Gossip is an inherent trait of human being. Artists are very interested in society and its inner workings, making “Gossip” a crucial subject for them to dissect, Norman Rockwell’s painting “The Gossips”, is a classic example of this. When we look at the paintings, we do not expect the figures to look back at us, or to look so lively. We prefer that the gossips stay safely dead, distant and irrelevant. But as we stare, we can sometimes forget that they are our personifications for they are as complex and sophisticated as us.
